china guangdong nuclear power corp (cgnpc), one of china's three nuclear power developers, said it has received government approval to conduct an early-stage study for lufeng nuclear power station, reuters reported.
cgnpc plans to build two one-gigawatt reactors in the first phase of lufeng in eastern guangdong, using its cpr1000 design based on european pressurised water reactor technology.
lufeng would house six one-gigawatt reactors, cgnpc said, citing approval guidelines from the national development and reform commission (ndrc).
cgnpc said it had 25 reactors with a total capacity of 28 gw that had received either initial or final approval from the ndrc.
